Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in food, travel, and life. Hope you have a nice stay!

November Snapshots

November Snapshots

This month we started taking advantage of the greenmarkets that pop up around our neighborhood. The one pictured below is at 79th street right outside the Museum of Natural History every Sunday. The produce from New York and New Jersey farms is delicious and affordable, not to mention they also sell eggs, cheese, baked goods, and even locally made whiskey! What more could one need? We successfully went meat-free this November, thanks to the bounty of fresh veg from these markets.

One of the highlights from this month (and probably my life) was meeting my favorite celebrity chef Geoffrey Zakarian. One Sunday I was lazing on the couch watching football and scrolling through Instagram, when I saw that he was hosting a demo at the Sur La Table in SoHo. I decided to pull myself semi-together and hopped on the subway. I was sure there would be a line around the block of people waiting to meet him, but there were only 10-15 people! I was front row for his demo of this amazing salad, and he signed one of his cookbooks for my mom. He was super nice and offered to let me get this picture with him - photo credit to my husband :)

My mom visited from North Carolina in November. We lunch at Alice's Tea Cup, celebrated her birthday at The Flatiron Room, and enjoyed plenty of quality girl time. I mean is my mom the cutest or what?!

On Thanksgiving Day, we ventured over to the parade. We didn't get there early enough to get a front-row spot so we couldn't really see the bands or floats, but we still had a great view of the balloons because they are HUGE! After about 45 minutes we couldn't take the cold anymore so we headed back to the apartment. We finished watching the parade on TV from the couch with cozy pajamas and mimosas - definitely my preferred way to watch it.

The rest of our Thanksgiving was very low key. It was just the two of us but it was wonderful. I cooked up a bunch of veggie sides and can't say that I missed the turkey much.

We spent the rest of the holiday weekend just hanging out and exploring. New York City is just starting to get dressed up in its holiday attire and I love it!
